ASCENT TO VILLARRICA VOLCANO, 2 847 m

“Ruca Pillan” means “the house of the spirits” and its origin is from the “Mapudungun” language from the Araucanos.

The Ruca Pillan or Villarica is one of the most active volcanoes on the American continent and is located in the Araucania region of Chile. An amazing natural landscape surrounds it: its flanks are covered by thousand-year-old forests, lakes and enormous glaciers. Its crater is 315-meter in diameter and it sometimes allows us to witness amazing explosions of lava. This ascent is truly a journey back to the beginnings of the planet. The ascent to Villarica volcano is a moderate effort activity and it can be done by anyone who is in good shape.

Our Mountain Guides will teach the group about basic mountaineering techniques all the time, as well as making a guided tour with the highest security standards.
