♦ MAURICIO BUSTAMANTE is PAREDON Andes Expeditions’ director.

Born in Chile, he has made his life in the mountains for more than twenty years, first as a climber and later as a professional mountain guide, ascending important summits of The Andes in Chile, Argentina and Perú. For 15 years he has guided clients to the peaks of mountains like the Aconcagua, Ojos del Salado, Llullaillaco, Parinacota, Juncal, Marmolejo, El Plomo, among many others. He has more than nine hundred guiding ascents of the active Villarica volcano.

In the nineties he worked as Ski Patrol in “El Colorado” and “Pucon ski areas”, Chile. Also he was the Technical Security Advisor and High Mountain Rescue Instructor for mining firms. He has also guided for important German and Austrian tourism companies. He is a member, and the technical director, of the Mountain Guides Association of Pucón in southern Chile. In 2006, 2007 and 2009, he was an instructor in the accreditation process for local mountain guides.

He speak Spanish and English, his personality, joy and good sense of humor are allies for good cohabitation during the itineraries, creating a warm and energetic atmosphere.

He lives in Pucón with his wife where he enjoys friends, nature and Alpine ski touring in winter time among the amazing volcanoes and lakes.
